If we are a HS team what are the NCAA requirements to be certified as players and coaches?
The NCAA made it mandatory that all coaches participating in coaching activities at an NCAA certified event must be approved prior to participating in that event through the NCAA Coaches Approval Program. To fill out the online application, you will need the following: access to the internet current knowledge regarding the NCAA basketball certification rules a valid credit card that can be used to pay for the application process? and a current email address. The approval process for coaches takes more than 1 week to process and the NCAA charges $40 for each member on your staff. Once you are approved you are cleared to be on the sidelines for two full years. When filling out the Swoosh coaches registration page you will need to enter your NCAA approval number in the field marked Coaches Approval Number.

All coaches must also register their teams with the NCAA, which includes coaches' information roster and all events that your team will be attending. This information must be checked off in order for you to participate in any open viewing evaluation event.
Since this is an NCAA certified event all teams must follow these following steps. All teams and coaches must be certified for this event.

This link (http://web1.ncaa.org/BBCS/exec/login) will take you to the Basketball Certification System. Click the button that says “New Activity Operator or Coach”. Here you will need to create your account including a username and password. Once you have finished, click the save button. Click “Coach” when the next page opens and then “Create Activity” on the following page. You will enter all the information regarding coaches here.

In addition, a background check must be conducted. There is a $40 fee to apply and a 10 question test which you must get 7 questions correct to pass. Once you pass the background check, you will be assigned a coaches approval number which will allow you to coach in NCAA certified events.

The Pumas and Credo Academies will be co-hosting The Halloween Tournament on October 30-31st in the Yorba Linda area and we look forward to having your team participate. We will offer good gyms, great competition, CIF top-rated referees, 1st place coach award, individual trophies for 1st and 2nd place, stop clock/scorekeepers, online schedule and score updates, all at a fair price of only $250. Don’t be left out as the brackets are filling out fast. We will have 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grade boys division (We will adhere to the recent AAU rule change where there is no more grade exceptions as divisions will be based strictly on GRADE ONLY). This will ensure fair and equitable participation by and for all.
